Our Academic programs provide options for every age and level of need.
Brain Camp
Brain Camp puts the “fun” in fundamentals, helping students ages 5 through middle school stay sharp from one school year to the next! Talented faculty — many of them McLean School Teachers — target essential skills in math, reading, writing, and science using a variety of hands-on learning activities. Campers will leave this program feeling stimulated, supported, and ready for the Fall!
Intensive Programs
Our Academic Intensive Programs are based on McLean’s Abilities Model®, which recognizes each child for their strengths, providing support in areas of need, and fostering resilience. SummerEdge teaches the way students learn — conventional learners as well as those with dyslexia, anxiety, and ADHD, or organizational challenges. Programs in math, reading, and writing are a great fit for lower and middle school campers looking to maintain and build momentum in particular subjects. Pre and post evaluations highlight areas of strength and challenge, and small groups ensure that each child is given ample attention and individualized instruction as needed. Campers come away from the program feeling confident and competent, and with documented progress and valuable, relevant recommendations for the coming school year.
Her academic work including math, reading, and writing has gone from a C- to an average A-. When asking my daughter what made the difference, she indicated that it was all the assistance and support she received during the summer program at SummerEdge. The reading and writing all clicked for her. Her teachers and Principal are amazed at her new spirit and confidence in her work. I am forever indebted to this wonderful program.
