JENNY WHICHARD ’92
Director of SummerEdge
What do you like best about SummerEdge?
The energy and sense of community we have. I am proud to be part of an impressive team that puts the campers’ needs first and provides a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for them to grow and develop. I love there’s something here for everyone at SummerEdge. Whether that’s sports, drama, community service, or academic support.
How long have you worked with SummerEdge?
I have been involved with the creation and growth of SummerEdge since its inception in 2002.
What do you do at SummerEdge/ What Programs are you involved with?
As the Director of SummerEdge, I have the pleasure of overseeing all programs, staff, and campers. I thrive off of getting to know campers and their families and ensuring their summer is a memorable one. I can hardly believe that our camp has grown from 2 programs with 20 campers to over 300 campers with over 20 individualized programs.
What’s your day job?
I’m the Head of Lower School and Director of Auxiliary Programs. I’m also the proud mom of 2 amazing girls who have been a part of SummerEdge since preschool.

Assistant Director of SummerEdge
What do you like best about SummerEdge?
I like that SummerEdge offers a wide variety of options for campers. The intensive programs are truly catered to the needs of our campers’ academics with half day options being just the right amount of time. Campers and families don’t have to choose between a supportive camp and a fun camp. They can have both!
How long have you worked with SummerEdge?
I joined the SummerEdge team in Summer 2022.
What do you do at SummerEdge/ What Programs are you involved with?
As Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs, I design engaging and dynamic programming, oversee registration and serve as the eyes and ears of camp. You’ll be sure to see me checking in with our campers and roaming the halls capturing footage for our social media channels!
What’s your day job?
I am the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs and proudly parent, with my husband, two awesome kids.

EMILY WOYTOWICH

What do you like best about SummerEdge?
I like SummerEdge for many reasons! One of them being the sense of community and belonging. Many of our campers return each year to continue a program they have done, or to try something new we are offering. It is always nice to reconnect with them, hear how their school year went, and be a part of their continuing growth journey. Another thing I really like about SummerEdge is when I am walking around and see so many ‘lightbulbs’ go off. Whether it is from a reading class, math session, or a cool project happening in STEM, seeing our campers be their best selves is what brings me back each summer!
How long have you worked with SummerEdge?
I have been with SummerEdge since the summer of 2022.
What do you do at SummerEdge/ What Programs are you involved with?
My role at SummerEdge is MedTech, or Summer Nurse. I also help out administratively in the Office with Ms. Whichard and Ms. Bobo.
What’s your day job?
During the school year, I am a Grade 6 teacher at the McLean School. I also coach Girls 5/6 Volleyball in the fall.
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?
I have two, Mint Chocolate Chip and Coffee. Dulce de Leche
JAMIE TUCKER
SummerEdge STEM Camp Coordinator
What do you like best about SummerEdge?
One of the aspects I cherish most about SummerEdge is the opportunity to cultivate an environment where students can seamlessly intertwine fun with learning. The essence of summer infuses a sense of relaxation and comfort, enabling campers to engage more deeply with the educational experience while still relishing the joys of the season.
How long have you worked with SummerEdge?
My tenure with SummerEdge spans back to 2014, affording me the privilege of contributing to its mission and witnessing its growth over the years.
What do you do at SummerEdge/ What Programs are you involved with?
Within the SummerEdge community, I hold the position of Coordinator for the STEM Camp, a role that encompasses multifaceted responsibilities. As both a coordinator and instructor, I orchestrate the daily activities and craft lesson plans tailored to our STEM curriculum. Additionally, I actively participate as an instructor, guiding students through immersive and captivating science projects that ignite their curiosity and passion for discovery.
